The Sudanese National Academy of Sciences (SNAS) is a non-governmental organization registered in Sudan and founded by Professor Ahmed Mohamed El Hassan (also ex President).

SNAS aims to achieve the following objectives and strategies:

Objectives

  • Raise the standard of and further develop theoretical and applied research in Sudan
  • Act as consultant and render advice to the Government and the private sector in the areas of education, science, technology and scientific research
  • Help in the dissemination of knowledge and the results of research through publication, support of journals dealing with these areas and through scientific conferencesRaise community awareness of the importance of science and technology in economic and social development
  • Collaborate with similar institutions in the developed and developing countries
  • Attract funds for the development of infrastructure of scientific institutions in the country
  • Offer scholarships, incentives, prizes and medals in the area of scientific research

Strategies

  • Publications of information and research results
  • Opening channels of communication with international and regional institutions concerned with science and technology
  • Conducting studies in matters relating to science and technology and organization of scientific conferences, workshops and seminars
  • Publication of books, pamphlets and newsletters in the field of science and technology
  • Formation of teams of workers for activation of the various functions of the Academy
